Description ~ Faroese Shawls From the Bottom Up and Top Down

The Faroese islands 18 rocky, volcanic islands between Iceland and Norway in the North Atlantic Ocean. A part of the kingdom of Denmark, it is a self-governing archipelago. The Faroese shawls from the region feature a unique shaping that helps keep the shawls on the shoulders. Instead of a more familiar triangular, rectangular or circular shape, Faroese shawls are shaped like butterfly wings. Some have very long ends so they can be tied around the wearer's waist for extra warmth.
